DEEJAY SANTOMIN
DIGITAL CREATOR | ENGINEERING UNDERGRAD
About
I am a second-year transfer student at Portland State University studying civil engineering. Drawing from a mix of professional roles and freelance work on the island of Saipan, I have cultivated a strong foundation in visual storytelling, working as a videographer and photographer. At the intersection of engineering and art, I approach every project with a keen eye for detail, care, and intention.
RECENT PROJECTS
"For Dad"
Told through an intimate blend of archival home movies and present-day video, this commemorative video is a visual letter from a son to his late father. Navigating his first year of grief while adjusting to a new life halfway across the world, the filmmaker searches for connection by looking through the lens his father once used. The video contrasts the father’s lifelong dedication to documenting his family with the son’s present reality.
Marianas Adventure
Featured in international tourism campaigns, this project began as a volunteer submission for the Marianas Visitor Authority’s “Marianas Adventure Campaign.” It was created in response to a community call to highlight Saipan’s local artists and tourism. The video captures the vibrant lifestyle and joys of visiting the island.
